Between 2025 and 2026, US states started passing laws that let people plug a small solar panel into a wall outlet. Each state did it differently, and a lot of states haven’t done it at all. The answer to “can I do this where I live?” is different in 51 places, and it keeps changing.

Plug-In Solar Report keeps that answer in one place: a record for every state, built from the legislature’s own documents, dated, and linked to the source so you can check it.
